FUNNY (TO ME) KID MOMENTS

I want to record some of the funny little things the kids have been doing and saying lately. It will make for good stories when they're older.

I was telling Gage not to do something and he said, "You're not in charge...Daddy's the Big Dog and you're just the little puppy, so HE's in charge!" I had to hide that I was cracking up.

I was tucking Gage in and having our nightly talk and he said, "Mama, you need to lie in bed with me and talk. You haven't done that in a long time because you're too busy with Bella and Paisley." Ouch. So I happily climbed in and we talked for just a couple of minutes until he said, "Ok, you can go now. I'm really tired."

I forgot to tell this in a recent post about our Ward Christmas Party, until my friend reminded me of it. A man in our ward played Santa and sat in a chair for all the boys and girls to come. Bella saw Santa and started running towards him screaming in excitement, but Gage was already up there near him scoping out the situation. He took note of Santa's boots, which were not REAL boots-they were black shoes with a fake leg part on them, and he noticed that Santa's beard and mustache kept moving. He figured this out just as Bella made her way within 3 feet of Santa, and Gage screamed in a half-crying voice, "Bella, NO!!! Get Mama!! Hurry, get Mama first!! NO, Bella!!" He KNEW that was NOT the real Santa and was so worried about the danger of Bella going to sit on this stranger's lap. Keep in mind, all the other children lined up were not saying a word as they patiently waited their turn. Gage was causing quite the scene. Bella was oblivious, as usual. My apologies to any other kids who are now terrified of Santa. Gage is such a good, protective big brother.

If Bella asks for something and we tell her no, she motions us toward her with her finger and gets right up close. She whispers so sweetly in your ear that she's going to go ahead and do what she asked for and finishes it with, okay? Example:

Bella: "I want a cookie, please????"

Mama: Oh, not right now honey. Maybe after dinner."

Bella: (her chubby little finger beckoning you closer)

Mama: (bends down to Bella who is positioning herself up against my ear)

Bella: (whispering so softly and sweetly) "I'm gonna have a cookie, okay?" (Then she looks up at me with a big smile and her big brown eyes).

She wins everytime....I just can't help myself.

Bella and Paisley just had their wellness exams, even though neither one of them were well. Bella had RSV and a double ear infection, followed by some kind of bug causing her to throw up all night. Paisley had a double ear infection and we were instructed to separate them as much as possible. That's funny. And impossible. But we decided to setup the portable crib in our room to at least let Paisley sleep away from Bella. Bella is so friendly to everyone (as long as I'm around) and easily gives hugs. After the doctor checked each ear, she thanked him. Then when he left the room, she thanked him again and told him bye. He said she is the most polite 2-year-old he's ever met. That made me laugh....he should come over when she says, "I want some cereal. RIGHT! NOW!!"

Here are their stats:
Bella - 30.5lbs (97%), 36" Length (97%)
Paisley - 23lbs 14oz (off the charts), 29" Length (90%), Head - 44 3/4" (75%)
Hard to believe her head is only in the 75th percentile, because it looks so fat!! Hmmmm...wonder where she gets that from.

Paisley is such a sweet girl. She is still so happy all the time and a really good sleeper and eater (the latter is quite obvious.) Her teeth are coming in slowly and sporadically. She has three teeth on the bottom (the two centrals and the one on the right) and she has her left "fang" tooth on the top. That's it!! It is so strange to see this little tooth poking out and no centrals! When you ask her how big she is she throws her arms up in the air and then gets so excited. She loves when you sing songs to her and dance with her. She loves for you told hold her on your lap and hold her hands while she throws her head back. Her legs are enormously elephant-like. She can BARELY hold her weight standing up with you holding her arms. She is still not crawling or pulling herself to stand (seriously, the girl is huge and I just don't think she has the strength!) The doctor said not to worry...she'll get there. I'm NOT worried and don't mind that she's not mobile yet.

We were in our room watching "Dirty Jobs" (on the Discovery Channel - awesome show) after putting the girls to bed and letting Gage stay up an extra 5 minutes. Something came up about getting married and Gage said, "I don't ever want to get married, I just want to stay at home with you guys." When I asked him why, he answered, "Because when you're married you do all that yucky kissy stuff. I don't like the kissy stuff." Phew! That works for me. I am going to remind him of this yucky kissy stuff when he's 15/16.
